Art Grice: A Walk in the Dark
Renowned photographer Art Grice presents images and proofs from his upcoming retrospective book, A Walk in the Dark, to be published later this year. The work-in-progress features highlights of his career from the 1960s through the present.
Art always carries a camera, constantly collecting images for future use. His work has been published extensively in books and magazines worldwide. Art has taught photography classes and workshops at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver School of Art, NW College of Art, and other venues. Notable career highlights include a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts to explore 3-D photography. In 2015 Art was awarded the Island Treasure Award by Arts and Humanities Bainbridge.
Middle School and High School Student Art Shows
Each May, BAC is proud to donate a gallery to local schools so that students can exhibit their work in a professional environment. We feature works of art by high school students every year, and elementary school and middle school works in alternating years.
This year, middle schoolers are in the spotlight with a show from May 5-16 filling our entire back gallery. Schools represented will be Carden Country School, Hyla Middle School, Madrona School, Odyssey Multiage, Sakai Intermediate School and Woodward Middle School.
The High School show will take over the gallery from May 24-30, and will feature Bainbridge High School and Eagle Harbor High School student works. For the first time, some of the art in these shows will be available for sale, giving our student artists even more of a taste of a “professional” art experience.
