Let the summer workshops begin

Kay Walsh at Bloedel Reserve

This past weekend Kay Walsh (shown here) and Amy D’Apice kicked off a fabulous summer of BAC workshops.

Still to come: Storytelling and Collage with Donna Snow, Pastel Exploration with Mary McInnis (perfect for beginners), and a special kids’ workshop, Painting Horses with Watercolor with Michele Soderstrom. Spaces are still available. Get more info on our education page.

With a show of paintings up right now at Streamliner Diner, Lynnette Sandbloom is cookin’!

(Meanwhile, in her alternate universe as BAC’s Director of Education, she’s put together a phenomenal schedule of artist talks, demos, and workshops for the summer.)

Go, Lynnette!

We are tremendously excited about tomorrow’s opening of the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art and hope that everybody goes to the ribbon cutting tomorrow! We’re also very excited because – here comes the bullet list -

  • Leigh Knowles, Wes McClain, and Jennifer Mann – all BAC artists – will be doing demos in the BIMA classroom tomorrow as part of the opening festivities.
  • In celebration of Barbara Helen Berger’s 40-year retrospective at the museum, we’ll present a selection of Barbara’s paintings and original illustrations for sale in the gallery this summer.

So go there, and then come here! It’ll be a great day.

We are very, supremely excited about the workshop beginning this Friday: Gesture Drawing “On Location” with BAC artist Amy D’Apice.

In this dynamic class, designed for artists of all levels, Amy will show you both traditional and contemporary drawing techniques to get you sketching simplified yet lively figures in the worlds they inhabit. You’ll start the three-session workshop at BAC and then quickly move out into the real world. A fourth advanced class is optional.

Having recently returned from many moons abroad, Amy is full of energy and ideas. This is going to be really fun.

To register, stop by BAC or give us a call at 206.842.3132.

The Grand Opening of BAC Toys!

Surprise, surprise!

Susan's 10th anniversary party

BAC staff, board members past and present, and good friends celebrated Ms. Susan W. Jackson at a SURPRISE 10th anniversary party on Friday evening. We got her good, and it was great!

Susan, congratulations and thank you from all of us.

Just love these. Feels like they’ll be here long after we are all gone.

Fish Face

Genevieve Moncada, Fish Face

Come to the High School Show to find this prize-winning work by BHS ninth grader (!!!) Genevieve Moncada.

There’s also photography, ceramics, jewelry, wire work, and a larger-than-life, hand-sewn pink plush kitty. These kids are seriously amazing.
